Resorts that have not installed treatment facilities will not be allowed to operate this year. The head of the Issyk-Kul Regional Department of the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Kylych Tentimishev, announced on the air of Birinchi Radio.
«Of course, we understand that this is an economic issue, but we choose ecology because this is the future, we need to leave something for the children,» he said.
According to Kylych Tentimishev, in recent years there has been a surge in the market of manufacturers.
«Currently, in Kyrgyzstan, about 10-12 companies are actively offering treatment facilities at affordable prices. Healthy competition has led to a decrease in cost,» he added.
The head of the department noted that there should be a 100-meter sanitary zone on the lake.
«Why are we talking about a water protection zone, that treatment facilities need to be built further? If there is a leak somewhere, and there is mostly sand there, then some of the chemicals will end up in the lake, and this is the worst tragedy for us,» he explained.
Kylych Tentimishev also recalled the ban on baths houses on the piers of Issyk-Kul Lake. «It is difficult to control during the day who is bathing there, where the soap solution ends up. We understand what impact soapy water has on the environment,» he noted.
