Director of State Lottery Company detained in Bishkek

The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) has uncovered a corruption scheme organized by the head of the State Lottery Company (Kyrgyzloto) under the State Property Management Agency. The press center of the SCNS reported.

According to it, the investigators found out that the head of Kyrgyzloto, K.V.V., in «selfish interests and for the purpose of illegal enrichment and obtaining material benefits, created conditions for extortion of money when interacting with potential investors.»

According to the SCNS, the detainee allegedly extorted $10,000 from investors intending to invest money and develop the country’s lottery activities. Moreover, by setting additional requirements and creating artificial barriers, he demanded a kickback from the sale of each lottery ticket.

According to the press center, on March 3, as part of the criminal case, K.V.V. was caught red-handed while taking part of $10,000 as a bribe and placed in the temporary detention facility of the SCNS. Investigative measures are ongoing to identify other persons involved.
