President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov arrived at the Olympic Stadium in Baku today, November 12, to participate in the opening ceremony of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The press service of the presidential administration reported.
The key topics of the summit include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, climate financing, introducing innovative technologies in power industry, as well as education and support for youth initiatives in the fight against climate change.
The event is attended by more than 50,000 people, including leaders of over 100 countries. The President of Kyrgyzstan and other delegates were welcomed by the head of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Sadyr Japarov is accompanied by his wife Aigul Japarova.
After the welcoming ceremony and a joint photo session, world leaders moved to the conference room to open the World Leaders Climate Action Summit.
Sadyr Japarov will make a national statement in the high-level segment, where he will present the Kyrgyz Republic’s vision on key issues of the climate agenda. The participation of the head of state at such a significant international platform reaffirms the country’s commitment to global initiatives on combatting climate change.
