Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Shakiev promised to initiate consideration of the issue on release of the arrested journalists. He said this during the awarding of media workers on the occasion of the Day of Information and Press.
At the event, journalist Bakyt Orunbekov asked to release his convicted colleagues. He asked the authorities to show mercy and take into account the norms of the law.
In response, Nurlanbek Shakiev recalled that when President Sadyr Japarov opened Yntymak Ordo, he said that this is not just an administrative building, but a symbol of determination, friendship and aspiration for development.
«The head of state said that the opposing sides should unite under one idea and work on the development of the state. I agree with him. Everyone makes mistakes. We will consider the situation of colleagues who made a mistake. But this should be a lesson for others. We must know what responsibility is. We must not desecrate the honor of someone, especially the state. Everyone must understand that this is wrong. Therefore, we will take this into account and consider it. Perhaps, we will resolve this issue within the law,» the speaker said.
