Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov, speaking at the annual National Development Forum, noted the low quality of teaching in the country.
According to him, the Cabinet intends to introduce innovations in school and university education programs.
«It is not about mechanical extension of today’s hopelessly outdated school program, and let’s be frank, very low quality of teaching. I repeat once again, the school must change completely. Our universities face the same task. We need to urgently reform school and university curricula, adding innovations that will be in demand in the future, such as digital literacy, critical thinking and environmental awareness,» Japarov said.
He also noted that Kyrgyzstan is actively investing in the early development of children and systematically increasing efforts to expand kindergarten coverage.
«This year alone, we have brought the coverage of children with preschool institutions from 28 to 35 percent. Some of our cardinal measures should bring this figure to 40 percent. At the same time, I would like to note that the Ministry of Education, together with international organizations, is achieving 100 percent coverage with preparatory courses at school for six-year-olds. We prioritize early childhood education, health care and nutrition, creating a foundation for long-term learning and health,» the head of the Cabinet said.
