GTA and Counter-Strike banned in Tajikistan

GTA and Counter-Strike have been banned in Tajikistan for propaganda of cruelty. Telegram channel of the Dushanbe police reported.

The press service of the capital’s Interior Ministry Department reported that it is conducting strict control over the distribution of «unethical» video games with elements of «violence, murder and robbery.»

«This is especially true for such popular games as Counter-Strike and Grand Theft Auto,» the department said in a press release, citing the conclusion of the historical and cultural examination by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan.

According to local authorities, young gamers are negatively influenced by the games and commit crimes.

It is not specified which other games will be banned. The restrictions will affect the capital’s computer clubs, and parents are urged to monitor what their children play. Police officers will conduct regular raids to ensure compliance with the ban.

«The Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Dushanbe demands from all owners of such centers do not allow the distribution of these games in the future. At the same time, citizens must keep their children under control and not allow them to participate in games that promote murder,» the statement says.
