He told that a highway is being built, connecting Mangistau region and the Republic of Uzbekistan. Automobile communication will be opened to Tazhen customs post on the territory of Kazakhstan.

A new highway from the center of Karakalpakstan to the country’s border was recently put into operation. This, as noted, will allow in the future to increase the volume of trade between Mangistau region and Uzbekistan.

According to Nurdaulet Kilybay, most of the food products, vegetables, fruits and dried fruits in the wholesale markets of the region come from the fields of Bukhara, Samarkand, Nukus and Syrdarya (RUz). About 250-300 trucks pass through Tazhen customs post every day, about 25-30 percent of which are sent to Mangistau region. This is approximately 11,000 tons of products.
