A reception was held in Bishkek to mark the national holiday of Hungary.
October 23 is a national holiday in memory of the anti-communist Hungarian uprising of 1956. It is also the Day of the Proclamation of the Hungarian Republic in 1989.
«This day reminds us of the heroism, strength of spirit of the Hungarian people in the pursuit of independence and justice,» the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of this country to Kyrgyzstan Sandor Dorogi said.
Prominent government and public figures, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, deputies, people of art, activists and many others came to congratulate him and the entire diplomatic corps.
«Hungary highly values relations with the Kyrgyz Republic. Our countries are far from each other geographically, but are close in spirit fraternal peoples. Since the opening of Embassies in the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary, our relations have developed dynamically. Over the past two years, there have been five mutual visits of the leadership of our countries. And in the near future, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban will pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan. I believe that these meetings demonstrate our aspirations to strengthen friendly and partnership relations and open up long-term horizons for cooperation,» Sandor Dorogi said.
He added that trade turnover between the countries has doubled over the past year.
The Ambassador also recalled cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Taking the opportunity, Sandor Dorogi invited everyone to the Days of Hungarian Cinema, which started in Bishkek today.
«We confirm our aspiration to strengthen partnership and develop ties between our countries,» he said.
The deputy minister thanked Hungary for cooperation in the economy, culture and education. In particular, he recalled the creation of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, as well as the allocation of a quota of up to 200 places for Kyrgyz students to study under the Stipendium Hungaricum programme.
«We are confident that high-level meetings will create new opportunities for joint work and further strengthen our economic and cultural ties,» Aibek Moldogaziev concluded.
The evening continued with tasting of Hungarian dishes, informal conversations and new interesting acquaintances.
