Mederbek Satyev nominated for post of Supreme Court Chairman

The Council of Judges proposed the candidacy of Mederbek Satyev for the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan. The press service of the department reported.

It is noted that the members of the Council of Judges unanimously supported the candidacy of Mederbek Asanbekovich Satyev for the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In accordance with paragraph 5 of part 4 of Article 70 of the Constitution, the President, upon the proposal of the Council of Judges from among the judges of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts and with the consent of the Parliament, appoints the chairmen of these courts for five years.

In accordance with paragraph 2 of part 3 of Article 80 of the Constitution, the Parliament, by at least half of the votes of the total number of deputies, gives consent to the candidates nominated by the head of state for the appointment of the chairmen of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts from among their judges for five years.

Mederbek Satyev graduated from the Law Faculty of the Zhusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz State National University. He began his career in Sokuluk district, and was later appointed a judge of the Bishkek City Court. It is known from open sources that in 2013 Mederbek Satyev was a member of the panel of judges for criminal cases of the Bishkek City Court, who acquitted members of the Parliament Sadyr Japarov, Kamchybek Tashiev and Talant Mamytov. They were accused of attempt to violently seize power. After this decision, Mederbek Satyev was dismissed early from the post of judge.
