The Security Service of Ukraine detained a member of the radical extremist movement Islamic State in Kiev, who had been hiding in the country for seven years. The security service reported on its Telegram channel.
«The perpetrator turned out to be a citizen of one of the Central Asian states, who illegally arrived in Ukraine using a foreign passport of a front man,» the statement says.
The detainee was engaged in transportation of militants of the terrorist organization to Syria. He was hiding from the international search in Ukraine, changing his place of residence and phone numbers.
Issue of his extradition to his native country, where he has been on the international wanted list since 2017, is being decided.
