Kyrgyz cultural figures awarded with Turkmenistan's highest cultural award

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov awarded cultural and scientific figures of Kyrgyzstan with Makhtumkuli Fragi Medal. The high award was given to individuals, who made a significant contribution to the development of Turkic culture, art, as well as to the study and popularization of the work of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Fragi. Participants of the event reported to 24.kg news agency.

The awarding ceremony was held with the participation of the Chairperson of the Mejlis of the country Dunyagozel Gulmanova, who presented awards to the following Kyrgyzstan’s figures:

  • Academician, Director of the Chingiz Aitmatov Institute Abdyldazhan Akmataliev;
  • People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, composer Tugolbai Kazakov;
  • People’s Writer of the Kyrgyz Republic, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev.

«The award underlines the importance of cultural and scientific ties between the countries of the Turkic world and the recognition of the contribution of Kyrgyzstan’s figures to the preservation and development of the common cultural heritage,» the participants of the event noted.

This year, Turkmenistan widely celebrates the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great poet and thinker, the founder of the Turkmen literary language Makhtumkuli Fragi.
