Interdepartmental cynologists competitions kick off in Osh city

Interdepartmental cynologists competitions have kicked off in Osh city, the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The need for cooperation between the republic’s security and law enforcement agencies, which will enable high-quality implementation of the assigned tasks to ensure national security, was announced at the opening ceremony.

The head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, Alexey Rogov, said that the security of one country directly influences stability in the region as a whole.

Four teams representing the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security, the Penitentiary Service, the Customs Service, and the State Service on Drug Control are taking part in the third interdepartmental cynologists competitions.

Cynologists and service dogs will compete in searching for drugs in luggage, freight and passenger vehicles, as well as indoors. The final stage of the competition is called «Obedience».

A ceremony of laying a capsule in the foundation of the future building of the canine center of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security took place at the base of military unit No. 2024. It will be built within the framework of an extra-budgetary project of the OSCE Programme Office with the support of international partners.

The canine center will include several facilities: barracks and training rooms for cynologists, enclosures, an obstacle course, maternity and veterinary units for service dogs. It will have special premises for training and practical classes with service dogs. The total cost of the project is €1 million.
