Director of the Tourism Department under the Ministry of Economy Maksat Usubaliev presented the results of the industry since the beginning of the year at a meeting of the National Travel Development Council in Bishkek.
He reported that in the first half of 2024, the number of registered entities related to the tourism sector increased to 135,800 units. For comparison: in the same period of 2023, this figure was 123,100.
Maksat Usubaliev also told that in the first eight months of this year, 6.143 million foreigners arrived in Kyrgyzstan through border checkpoints. This figure was about 8.5 million people for the last year.
According to the National Statistical Committee, the number of people visiting the country in 2023 increased almost 1.5 times compared to 2022 and amounted to 2.8 million people.
