The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan proposes to ban the import, transit and re-export of cigarettes in Kyrgyzstan for six months. The ministry has submitted the corresponding draft resolution for public discussion.
The draft resolution proposes to establish a temporary ban for a period of six months on filtered and non-filtered cigarettes in Kyrgyzstan from countries that are not member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, to be introduced three days after the date of entry into force of this resolution.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economy proposed to raise the minimum price of tobacco products.
It is proposed to set the following prices from 2025:
- A pack of cigarettes (with and without filter) — no less than 110 soms (currently 100 soms);
- A heated tobacco stick — at least 110 soms (currently 100 soms);
- Disposable vapes — 350 soms (currently 300 soms);
- Electronic cigarettes — 1,500 soms (currently 1,400 soms).
