Participants of the meeting of the Board of Muftis of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), which is taking place in Astana, call for protecting traditional religious knowledge from false assumptions. The Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Kazakhstan reports.
According to it, the document «Islam supports the traditions of the local population» was adopted.
«The continuity of religion and traditions occupies a special place in the culture of the Turkic peoples. It is necessary to explain this important issue to people from the point of view of Sharia. Our goal is to protect our centuries-old traditional religious knowledge from false assumptions. To preserve our national identity and customs, which are intertwined with our religion and traditions,» the statement says.
The clergy of the OTS countries also called to «cherish the values that unite society and strengthen unity — a country that is separated from its traditions, religion, language and customs has no future.»
The head of the Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan, Abdulaziz kary Zakirov, also took part in the meeting of the OTS Muftis.
