Mandatory fuel marking launched in Kyrgyzstan from October 1

Official launch of the fuel marking system with the use of molecular markers took place at the oil depot in Kant on October 1. The event was attended by representatives of the Tax Service and Uchkun JSC — the operator of fuel marking. The State Tax Service reported.

The process of fuel marking and detection of unmarked products was shown at the presentation. Specialists told about the advantages of the technology, which became mandatory in Kyrgyzstan for gasoline and diesel fuel from October 1, 2024.

The circulation of unmarked fuel in Kyrgyzstan will be prohibited from 2025.

Molecular marker is a unique compound that is embedded in the structure of fuel and cannot be removed. Its presence is checked by special devices certified to comply with all the necessary standards.

Introduction of the system is aimed at combating illegal turnover of oil products and improving the quality of fuel on the market. It is expected to help prevent smuggling, illegal fuel sales schemes and improve the administration of excise tax, which will lead to an increase in tax revenues to the budget.

Recall, the turnover of unmarked fuel residues has been prohibited since September 1, 2024. Mandatory marking of fuel in the Kyrgyz Republic will be implemented by a company from Singapore.
