Number of deputies in local councils increased in Kyrgyzstan

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed amendments to the laws of the Kyrgyz Republic «On Local State Administration and Local Government Bodies», «On the Status of the Capital» and «On the Status of the City of Osh». The press service of the head of state reported.

According to it, the amendments were adopted by the Parliament on September 19.

The law establishes the numerical composition of local councils:

Bishkek and Osh City Councils — 51 deputies;

City and rural councils:

From 20,000 to 70,000 residents — 31 deputies;
From 70,000 — 41 deputies.

The presidential decree «On the dissolution of local councils and calling the elections of deputies of local councils» was issued on September 6. At least 484 local councils are subject to dissolution. Elections of deputies of 249 local councils (list is at the link) are scheduled for November 17.
