Repairs at Bishkek Heating and Power Plant (HPP) will be completed in November. Energy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev announced on the air of on Birinchi Radio.
He noted that city residents fear a repeat of the breakdown at the HPP.
«Money has been allocated from the budget for the capital’s heating and power plant overhaul. Units No. 3 and 4, which were built by a Chinese company, are being repaired. No repairs have been carried out there for seven years. According to the design, the electrical capacity was 300 megawatts, but during operation it dropped to 200 megawatts. We are now completing the repair of the 3rd unit and will fire up the boiler. We will complete the repair of the 4th unit by November,» Taalaibek Ibraev told.
Recall, a breakdown occurred at the Bishkek HPP on February 2 at night. Five people were injured, three were hospitalized, two were receiving outpatient treatment. Schools and kindergartens in the capital were transferred to online classes. Heat and hot water supply in Bishkek was fully restored on February 7. On February 9, the national headquarters reported the completion of liquidation work at the site.
