Armenia is ready to amend its Constitution in order to conclude a peace agreement with Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said at a session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 26. RBC reports, citing Armenia Today.

The Prime Minister explained that if such an agreement is concluded, it will be sent to the Constitutional Court of Armenia to check it for compliance with the country’s Basic Law.

If the court decides that the document violates the Constitution, the authorities will consider making amendments so that the peace agreement can enter into force.

In 2020, the authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan declared martial law amid the escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. Clashes between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops began in the region.
