Dmitry Konstantinov, Director General of Rosatom office in Kyrgyzstan, told the media about current and prospective projects in the country.

According to him, the company is actively developing joint projects in the power industry sector and medicine.

«One of the key projects will be the construction of a hydropower station in Batken region. In addition, the corporation has hydropower station projects in Jalal-Abad and Osh regions. Currently, together with the Ministry of Energy, we are assessing suitable sites and discussing the details of the project implementation,» Dmitry Konstantinov said.

He added that, in addition to hydropower, Rosatom plans to develop wind power. For example, wind farms should appear in Kok-Moinok area, which are planned to be launched by 2026.

«We actively support the development of nuclear medicine in the Kyrgyz Republic. Recently, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Oncology Center, we managed to resume the work of the nuclear medicine department, which had not been functioning for a long time. The first patients have already been accepted, and the company aims to create a full-fledged nuclear medicine center. It will not only diagnose and treat diseases, but will also produce radioactive drugs. It is also planned to build a targeted diagnostics department, which will make it the most modern medical institution in the republic,» the Rosatom representative told.

One of the promising projects for Kyrgyzstan may be the construction of a low-power nuclear power plant. According to Dmitry Konstantinov, active planning and discussion of the details of the project are currently underway, which will diversify the country’s energy resources and reduce dependence on fuel imports.

The head of the representative office expressed confidence that the successful implementation of all projects will be an important step towards strengthening cooperation and creating a modern infrastructure in the Kyrgyz Republic.
