Domestic manufacturers of medicines and medical devices sold products to the Ministry of Health at inflated prices. The Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said at a meeting of Ata Zhurt parliamentary faction.
According to him, the Ministry of Health has obligations to buy local products. However, an audit by the State Committee for National Security and the Accounts Chamber showed that domestic companies, taking advantage of this, sold medicines and medical devices to the ministry with a 40-50 percent markup.
«Under the previous agreement, they could sell products to us with a 20 percent markup. But this clause, it turns out, was removed, and they set the prices themselves. If we bought the same medicines from foreign manufacturers, we would save 73 million soms and 47 million on medical devices,» Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said.
