Kyrgyzstani arrested for 10 days for extremist social media post in Surgut

A citizen of Kyrgyzstan was convicted of promotion of an extremist organization in Surgut. He was taken into custody. The website of the City Court reported.

«The Surgut City Court considered the case against a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic for committing an administrative offense under Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia (public display of symbols of extremist organizations),» the statement says.

According to the case materials, during the monitoring of VKontakte social media platform, it was established that the Kyrgyzstani posted the flag of the Islamic Liberation Party (the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al Islami) on his account. He massively demonstrated the symbols, thereby violating the requirements of the federal Law on Combating Extremist Activity.

The defendant admitted his guilt. He was sentenced to administrative arrest for 10 days without confiscation.
