Kyrgyzstan and Russia agreed on exchange of information in the field of security. Representatives of the Defense Ministries of the two countries discussed issues of «organizing information exchange in the daily life and activities of troops.»
A working meeting of representatives of the crisis response center of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic and the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation was held in Cholpon-Ata city. Issues of «organizing information exchange in the daily life and activities of troops» of the parties were discussed.
«The purpose of organizing information exchange is to promptly provide officials from among the leadership of the armed forces of the parties with information about changes in the situation affecting security interests, as well as about the activities carried out in the armed forces,» the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic said in a statement.
The states have been cooperating in the field of security since independence was declared. Earlier, an agreement was signed providing for the supply of Russian military equipment and various weapons worth $1 billion to the Kyrgyz army on a free-of-charge basis.
Recall, the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic hosts the Joint Military Base of the Russian Army, which includes several facilities, including an airbase in Kant, an anti-submarine weapons test base of the Russian Navy (Issyk-Kul region), a communication center of the Russian Navy (Chui region), and a radio seismic laboratory of the seismic service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
