The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCNS) actively carried out operational measures to combat smuggling in Batken region, especially in Leilek district, in September 2024. The SCNS reported.
During the operations, several vehicles transporting goods without documents were detained:
A BMW, driven from a neighboring country without state number plates and illegally imported to Kyrgyzstan, was detained on September 3;
A Hyundai Porter truck with fake number plates was detained on September 14, the driver of which was transporting more than 4 tons of grapes grown in a neighboring country without documents;
On the same day, three more Hyundai Porter trucks were detained, which were transporting used batteries with a total weight of 13.5 tons, illegally imported to Kyrgyzstan;
A Mercedes Sprinter was detained on September 15, in which 2,850 kilograms of ground beef and 360 kilograms of ground chicken were found without any documents;
On September 15, another Mercedes Sprinter was detained, transporting 7,240 light bulbs, 10 electric stoves, 6 air conditioners, and more than 1,650 shampoos and washing powders without documents;
One more Mercedes Sprinter, detained on the same day, was transporting 2,200 kilograms of grapes without documents.
All the cases have been registered and the SCNS continues investigative actions to find out the circumstances and identify participants of the smuggling.
The special services remind about criminal liability for the illegal transportation of goods across the state border.
