The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan reported that the sugar beet harvest will reach record levels in 2024.
According to the ministry’s forecast, the republic will harvest 900,000 tons of beets. At least 110,000 tons of sugar will be produced, which will reach 92 percent of the total need of the population of Kyrgyzstan for this product.
The ministry reportedly does not plan to impose a ban on sugar imports yet. This is due to low prices for this product in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. However, the ban may be imposed later, in order to support farmers.
