Construction of the first wind power plant has begun in Kyrgyzstan.
The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov and the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk took part in the ceremony of laying the capsule at the construction site of the wind power plant in Ton district of Issyk-Kul region.
The project is being implemented by Rosatom Renewable Energy JSC. It is planned to build a wind power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts, the planned annual generation will be 290 million kilowatt-hours.

Although the Kyrgyz Republic is among the regions with the greatest potential for renewable energy sources, we have not used wind energy, solar energy and biogas technology energy in our consumption. We have more than 300 sunny days a year, and the power of the local wind is reflected in folk legends. We are now witnessing the start of construction of a 100-megawatt wind power plant,» Akylbek Japarov said.
He added that over the past two years, construction of Kulanak and Orto-Tokoi hydropower plants has begun, and the construction of Bala-Saruu hydropower plant and dozens of other small hydropower plants has been completed. The At-Bashi hydropower plant has been modernized, and Toktogul, Uch-Kurgan HPPs are being reconstructed. Construction of overhead power lines has begun under CASA 1000 project at the international level.
