Film screenings for blind to take place in Kyrgyzstan for the first time

Film screenings for the blind will take place in Kyrgyzstan for the first time. It was announced at the opening of the inclusive film festival Cinema without Borders.

According to the head of Phenomenon Public Foundation, Iskender Sultanaliev, films have become accessible to the blind thanks to the introduction of audio description.

Audio description is targeted information specially prepared for the blind (visually impaired) with the purpose of replacing (or supplementing) visual information that is perceived by a sighted person, and which, due to a visual defect, is inaccessible (or poorly accessible) to the blind (visually impaired).

The films «Paradise Under Mothers’ Feet» (Ruslan Akun), «Salam, New York!» (Ruslan Akun), «Megatoi» (Suyun Otkeyev) and «Kurmanjan Datka» (Sadyk Sher-Niyaz) will be screened for inclusive viewers.
