DW: Vladimir Putin promotes his niece to post of Deputy Minister of Defense

Anna Tsivilyova has been transferred to the post of State Secretary — Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, in particular, in charge of the ministry’s communication with the State Duma and the Federation Council. In addition, her responsibilities will include preparing proposals for draft laws. DW reports.

As the media outlet notes, just two months ago, Tsivilyova also took the post of Deputy Minister of Defense by decree of President Vladimir Putin. She was supposed to supervise the social and housing provision of the military.

The media call Anna Tsivilyova the daughter of the Russian leader’s cousin. In January 2022, Agency media outlet released an investigation, in which it concluded that she is the daughter of the cousin of the Russian leader Yevgeny Putin.

«Anna Tsivilyova is the wife of the Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilyov, who previously held the post of governor of Kemerovo Oblast. Tsivilyova, 52, was born in Ivanovo and worked as a psychiatrist in a regional hospital,» DW writes.

Soon after Putin came to power, she moved to Moscow, where she received an economic education and began to supply medical equipment. In 2007, she married Sergei Tsivilyov, and five years later the couple became owners of a share in Kolmar coal company, the Agency noted.

At the end of 2023, Anna Tsivilyova was included in the EU sanctions list.
