A 34-year-old citizen of Kyrgyzstan, who left her newborn child on the street of St. Petersburg in Russia, has been taken into custody. She is accused of child endangerment (Article 125 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The joint press service of the city courts reports.
According to preliminary data, the woman gave birth to a boy at about 6.30 p.m. on August 11. A couple of hours later, she left the maternity hospital without permission. Closer to nightfall, the mother left her baby at the gate of the infant orphanage No. 13. The investigative bodies believe that the woman left the newborn right on the asphalt near the gate of the orphanage.
«... She deliberately left her son on the asphalt near the gate of this building, realizing that the newborn child was in a dangerous for his life and health condition, in which she herself had placed him,» the department reported.
The Oktyabrsky District Court took the suspect into custody for 30 days, until September 10.
It was previously reported that a newborn baby wrapped in a blanket was left on the street near one of the houses on Malaya Podyacheskaya Street in Admiralteisky district of St. Petersburg.
It is known that the police have already found the mother, who abandoned her son a few hours after his birth, but it was not she, who left him on the asphalt. The baby was born in a maternity hospital in Kupchino. His mother, the 34-year-old citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, left the medical facility that same day, taking her son. Her identity was quickly established: a tag was left on the baby’s wrist.
The Kyrgyz woman told law enforcement officers that her son was unwanted. After consulting with her sister, she decided to leave him near the orphanage. The camera filmed the woman walking back and forth near the arch, rocking the baby, and then hastily leaving without him. It turned out to be the boy’s aunt; his mother was waiting on the embankment at that time.
According to the woman, the relative left the baby at the gate, rang the bell and ran away. Later, they have allegedly returned to make sure that the baby was taken to the orphanage.
