Energy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev met with his counterpart from Tajikistan Daler Juma during a working visit to Kazakhstan. The press service of the ministry reported.

The parties held talks on CASA-1000 project and the transmission and sale of electricity between the countries of Central and South Asia.

Recall, the project is aimed at connecting the energy systems of Central Asia with South Asia — Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan with Afghanistan and Pakistan. This will allow developing mechanisms for trade in electricity in accordance with international standards. The launch is expected at the end of 2024.

A 456-kilometer 500 kV high-voltage line is under construction in Kyrgyzstan. The construction of a unit at the 500 kV Datka substation has been completed. Construction work will be completed by the end of August.

The Energy Ministers of the two countries plan to test the work performed in anticipation of the full launch of CASA-1000 project. They will conduct tests of overhead lines, transformers and substations.
