Development of transport corridors passing through CIS territory discussed

The CIS Executive Committee and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) plan to prepare a plan of joint activities aimed at development of transport corridors until 2030. The EEC website says.

The commission’s initiative to expand cooperation with the Executive Committee of the CIS Coordinating Transport Meeting was discussed by Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Gennady Bessonov, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the CIS Coordinating Transport Meeting.

The EEC’s participation in the work of coordinating bodies, acting in accordance with the agreement on the coordinated development of international transport corridors passing through the territory of the CIS countries, was also considered. Earlier, such an initiative of the EEC was supported by the Council of heads of authorized bodies in the field of transport of the EAEU member states.

The work done on the development of transport infrastructure within the EAEU and the CIS was noted, and the intention was expressed to expand cooperation in coordinating the development of Eurasian transport and international transport corridors passing through the territories of the EAEU and CIS states.

«We can achieve an even greater effect by combining the efforts of the EEC and the CIS Coordinating Transport Meeting,» Arzybek Kozhoshev said.

The meeting participants agreed on the need to prepare a plan of joint activities based on the current memorandums.

Recall, the agreement on the coordinated development of international transport corridors passing through the territory of the CIS countries was signed on November 20, 2009.
