Uzbekistan will be able to export surplus of green electricity generated in the country to Europe via Azerbaijan starting from 2030. Fergana media outlet reported, citing the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov.

According to him, for this it is necessary to lay a deep-sea cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea. Electricity will go through Kazakhstan via the common energy system of Central Asia, then via a deep-sea cable to Azerbaijan, from there to Georgia and then via a cable along the bottom of the Black Sea to Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. Uzbekistan has already signed a memorandum of cooperation on the integration of energy systems with Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

Thus, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan plans to export from 2 to 5 gigawatts of electricity from renewable sources to Europe. According to their plans, electricity generation from renewable energy sources by 2030 will exceed 20 gigawatts.
