Former bodyguard of Almazbek Atambayev, Erkin Mambetaliev, has been detained in Bishkek. Sources in law enforcement agencies informed 24.kg news agency.
He is suspected of links to the organized crime group of the murdered crime boss Kamchi Kolbaev.
Erkin Mambetaliev was convicted of the murder of a police officer — the head of the Main Directorate for Combating Official Crimes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Colonel Chynybek Aliev. In 2008, the Supreme Court found Erkin Mambetaliev guilty of complicity in the murder of several people, including deputy Zhyrgalbek Surabaldiev, and sentenced him to life imprisonment. However, after the events in April 2010, the court reviewed the case, applied amnesty, and he was released directly from the courtroom.
