Nearly 2 billion soms were spent on the construction of the correctional facility No.10, and it is planned to open it in September. The Minister of Justice Ayaz Baetov told at a press conference.
He noted that more than 500 million soms have been allocated to the State Penitentiary Service for the institution No. 16. Conditions are created there both in terms of content and infrastructure for different categories of people.
«We propose to abolish penal settlements in Kyrgyzstan and introduce a probation system. Electronic courts are being actively introduced and a lot of work is being done to digitalize the system,» the minister said.
Ayaz Baetov stressed that significant changes were taking place in the structure of the State Penitentiary Service, aimed at improving the conditions of detention of convicts and modernization of institutions.
