Two traffic police officers detained for taking bribes in Balykchi

Two traffic police officers have been detained in Balykchi city of Issyk-Kul region. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

«A persistent corruption scheme has been detected in the system of the Main Directorate of the Traffic Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, aimed at extorting and taking money from road users during the peak tourist season by individual officials of the Traffic Safety Department of Issyk-Kul region and the Department of Patrol Police Service of Bishkek,» the statement says.

Thus, on July 31, two traffic police officers were caught red-handed while taking bribes. On the same day, other inspectors suspected of abuse of office were detained by the State Committee for National Security officers.

Investigators are identifying other law enforcement officers involved in the above-mentioned corruption scheme. In addition, a set of measures is being carried out aimed at establishing the actual circumstances of the crimes committed, based on the results of which a final decision will be made on bringing all persons involved to criminal responsibility.
