The Federation Council of Russia has approved a law simplifying the process of obtaining of Russian residence permits for compatriots-repatriates, who have received the status of a participant of the state program of assistance to voluntary resettlement to Russia. RIA Novosti reported.
It is established that the Russian residence permit will be issued to such citizens and members of their families without obtaining a temporary residence permit after passing the mandatory state dactyloscopy, photographing, as well as providing medical documents confirming the passage of medical examination.
An application for a residence permit may be submitted to a diplomatic mission or consular office of the Russian Federation in the state, in which the application for participation in the state program of assistance to voluntary resettlement was submitted.
In addition, the law provides that the formation of information on foreign citizens and stateless persons in the information systems of state bodies and organizations is ensured through the uniform translation of surnames and names contained in the identity documents of such persons — from the Latin spelling to the Cyrillic spelling.
It is stipulated that the procedure for the translation of surnames and first names shall be established by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The law enters into force from the day of its official publication.
