At least 518 ethnic Kyrgyz received the status of returnees over the past six months. The press service of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to its data, over 70,000 ethnic Kyrgyz have been resettled to the territory of Kyrgyzstan over the years of independence. About 65,000 people of them obtained citizenship of Kyrgyzstan.
The status of returnee is granted by an interdepartmental commission of representatives of the State Committee for National Security, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and the Department of Population Registration of the Ministry of Digital Development.
The application is considered within two months. At least 518 ethnic Kyrgyz from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China, Russia, Turkey, Afghanistan and other countries received the status in the first half of 2024.
«Ethnic Kyrgyz with the status of returnee have the right to receive benefits and pensions, medical care, education, assistance in employment, and, on an equal basis with citizens of Kyrgyzstan, in accordance with the Land Code, they can receive agricultural land for fixed-term use,» the ministry added.
