A man, who strangled his deaf and dumb wife, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Batken. The regional court informed 24.kg news agency.
The incident occurred on January 2 of this year. The deceased was 23 years old. She had daughters aged 4 and 6. Witnesses in court said that the husband beat the woman for three days in a row. When she tried to escape, he caught up with her and strangled her right on the street. The man was 10 years older than his wife and is also deaf and dumb.
Having examined the case, the Kadamdzhai District Court found the man guilty of murder committed with particular cruelty and sentenced him to 13 years in prison and a fine of 30,000 soms. The victim’s representatives filed an appeal against the district court’s decision, and on July 24 the Batken Regional Court sentenced the defendant to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property and fined him 30,000 soms.
