Kyrgyzstani sentenced to two years in prison for telephone fraud in Russia

A Kyrgyzstani was sentenced to two years in prison in a telephone fraud case in Bryansk Oblast of Russia. The press service of the local court reports.

The Klintsovsky City Court sentenced the 21-year-old citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic. He was found guilty of three crimes under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Fraud, that is, theft of someone else’s property by deception, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, causing significant damage to a citizen.»

The court found that the defendant entered into a criminal conspiracy with a group of people, fulfilling his assigned role as a courier for telephone scammers. Each of the three victims was given the same information over the phone about a relative, who caused a road accident, and the victims of deception were offered to solve the problem for money.

The defendant received 400,000 rubles from the victims, intended for transfer to the accounts of his accomplices. The young man partially admitted his guilt, repented of his crime and fully compensated the damage to the victims.

The court pronounced a final sentence of two years in a prison colony. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
