Mayor of Ankara visits Bishkek for the first time in 30 years

Mayor of Bishkek Aibek Dzhunushaliev met with the Mayor of Ankara Mansur Yavas in the capital’s City Hall. The press service of the City Hall reported.

The event was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Turkey Ruslan Kazakbaev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Turkish Republic to the Kyrgyz Republic Ahmet Sadık Dogan.

This is the first visit of the mayor of Ankara since 1992. Bishkek is also the first city visited by the mayor of Ankara after his election to the post in March 2024.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the intensification of practical bilateral cooperation. Aibek Dzhunushaliev noted the importance of upgrading the skills of Bishkek City Hall specialists, taking into account the experience of the city of Ankara.

Issues of creating joint projects on the improvement of infrastructure of the capital and in the field of digitalization were also discussed.

Mansur Yavas noted that the purpose of his visit was to strengthen trade and economic relations between the cities. In turn, Aibek Dzhunushaliev noted the need to increase the number, improve the quality and scale of joint projects.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed hope for further productive cooperation.
