Customs officers to be able to investigate criminal cases in Kyrgyzstan

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed the Law «On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts on Crimes in the Field of Customs.» The press service of the head of state reported.

The document was adopted by the Parliament on June 5, 2024.

It provides for amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code and the Criminal Code.

According to the amendments, customs authorities are empowered to investigate criminal cases on crimes initiated under Articles 231 (Economic smuggling), 241 (Evasion of customs duties), 285 (Smuggling of items for which special rules of movement across the customs border of the Kyrgyz Republic are established) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
