Mudflows in Nookat: Uzbekistan sends 95 tons of humanitarian aid

At least 95 tons of humanitarian aid arrived from Uzbekistan for the villages affected by the devastating mudflows in Nookat district of Osh region. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reported.

About 24 tons of flour, 12 tons of rice, 10 tons of sugar and other products were brought to the region.

The cargo was delivered by a delegation led by the First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sanzharbek Zuparov. The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Mazaripov and the Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President to Osh region Ilyaz Tashbaev met the humanitarian aid and expressed gratitude to the Uzbek people for their support in difficult times.

A specially created commission will distribute the aid among the victims.

Mudflows occurred in Nookat district of Osh region on June 28, leading to the death of people. Due to heavy rains, mudflows flooded dozens of courtyards and damaged bridges, roads and power lines. Ten people were killed.

On June 30, four people died during a mudflow in Kara-Kuldzha district of Osh region. They are all members of the same family.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 236 mudflows were registered in Kyrgyzstan from April 20 to July 1 this year, the damage from which amounted to more than 170 million soms.
