Illegal import of exotic birds across the state border has been prevented. The Information and Communications Department of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.

According to it, on July 1, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, 39, in a Daewoo Matiz car tried to illegally import 160 budgerigars and six ostrich chicks from Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan in Zhany-Zher area of Kadamdzhai district.

He placed the cages on the roof of the car, covering them with personal belongings. The offender did not have documents for the birds. The total cost of the smuggled cargo reached 774,500 soms.
