Central Asian Energy Company LLC will carry out a major overhaul and modernization of Junda oil refinery for $160 million. The press service of the National Investment Agency reported.

A corresponding agreement was signed on July 2 between the Director of the National Investment Agency, Talant Imanov, and the Chairman of the Board of Central Asian Energy Company LLC, Huang Qianem.

A criminal case was opened in December 2015 against the management of the plant after an audit that revealed the company’s concealment of taxes amounting to 54 million soms. The audit also revealed a shortage of 1,000 tons of gasoline in the warehouse for 26 million and violations in cash accounting.

The plant suspended its activities in 2019. Last year it was reported that the Chinese government had bought the company from previous investors and planned to launch it within two years.
