A mountain peak in Sary-Jaz valley of Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan was named after the United Nations Organization. President Sadyr Japarov announced this at a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Meeting of President Sadyr Japarov with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who arrived on a visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, took place at the state residence in Cholpon-Ata on July 2.
Sadyr Japarov, noting the leading role of the UN in environmental protection, presented a certificate to Antonio Guterres.
«According to the Presidential Decree, an unnamed mountain peak with a height of 5,576 meters, located in the area of South Enilchek glacier of Sary-Jaz ridge in Issyk-Kul region, was named «United Nations Peak,» the certificate says.
Recall, UN Secretary-General António Guterres went on a tour of Central Asian countries. He will visit Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. In each of the states, the Secretary-General will meet with the president and other senior government officials, as well as familiarize himself with projects related to the fight against climate change and talk to local activists.
