«I have not seen before such dynamic development in Kyrgyzstan as I see now,» UN Secretary-General António Guterres said at a meeting with President Sadyr Japarov.
He noted that he had come to Kyrgyzstan before. However, he had not noticed such dynamic development in the country.
«Kyrgyzstan used to be like a ’sleeping beauty’. But now it is developing and moving forward,» the UN Secretary-General emphasized and added that plans for sustainable development are being implemented in the republic.
According to him, the Kyrgyz Republic was one of the first countries to put forward the initiative on development of mountainous regions.
Meeting of President Sadyr Japarov with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who arrived on a visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, took place at the state residence in Cholpon-Ata on July 2.
Recall, UN Secretary-General António Guterres went on a tour of Central Asian countries. He will visit Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. In each of the states, the Secretary-General will meet with the president and other senior government officials, as well as familiarize himself with projects related to the fight against climate change and talk to local activists.
