Mudflows in Nookat: Minor citizens of Kazakhstan are among killed

According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, there are minor citizens of Kazakhstan among the dead. The bodies of two children were found and the search for two more is underway. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the neighboring country reported on its Telegram channel.

The ministry recalled that on June 28, due to heavy rains, a destructive mudflow occurred in Nookat district of Osh region, which led to casualties among the population and tourists.

Kazakh diplomats are in constant contact with local authorities. The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kyrgyzstan provides all necessary assistance to the relatives of the killed children. The situation is under special control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

The Foreign Ministry added that in this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, had a telephone conversation with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, during which the circumstances of the emergency and the interaction of the relevant government bodies of both states were discussed.

The destructive mudflow occurred in Nookat district of Osh region at approximately 4.10 p.m. on June 28. Due to heavy rains, mudflows flooded dozens of courtyards, damaging several bridges and roads. Casualties were reported.
