The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan sent a helicopter to Nookat district of Osh region, where a destructive mudslide occurred on June 28 and claimed the lives of five people. The press service of the ministry reported.
The ministry noted that on June 28 in the afternoon and on June 29 early in the morning the mountain passes were shrouded in fog and the weather was bad for flying. As soon as the fog cleared, a helicopter was dispatched for rescue operations.
On June 28, due to heavy rains, the road to Abshyr-Ata waterfall was washed away by a mudflow. 1,300 people were cut off from the outside world.
According to the latest data, rescuers ferried 180 people across the river. Seven vacationers were swept away by the mudflow. The bodies of five people were found, the search for the rest continues.
