Construction of Orto-Tokoi HPP: Capsule laying ceremony to take place on June 29

A capsule laying ceremony, marking the beginning of construction of Orto-Tokoi hydropower plant (HPP), will take place today, June 29. The press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan reports.

On June 28, Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev inspected the preparations for the start of construction. Design work on Orto-Tokoi HPP has been fully completed.

«Construction work will begin immediately after the capsule laying ceremony. It is planned to build the HPP within two years,» the press release says.

A contract between Chakan HPP and the Chinese company CNHMC (China National Heavy Machinery Corporation) has been signed for the construction of a 21 MW hydropower plant on Orto-Tokoi reservoir.

«The Minister of Energy noted the importance of HPP construction for overcoming the energy deficit in the country and instructed the General Director of Chakan HPP JSC Nurlan Sadykov to hold the upcoming event at a high level and to control the timely completion of construction works according to the work schedule,» the statement says.
