Russia-Kyrgyzstan consultations on biological safety issues took place in Bishkek in an interdepartmental format. The website of the Russian Foreign Ministry says.
An exchange of assessments of biosafety threats in the territories of Russia and Kyrgyzstan has been carried out. Implementation of the bilateral intergovernmental memorandum of understanding on issues of ensuring biological safety, including specific areas for further cooperation, was considered.
Issues of optimizing and increasing the efficiency of interaction in this area were discussed.
The meeting confirmed the unity of approaches of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic to the issue of biosafety. The need for further close coordination and constructive interaction was noted both in a bilateral format and at specialized multilateral platforms, primarily within the framework of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention.
